“Fear got too much airtime in 2020.”

“Fear got too much airtime in 2020”

– Sean Curran

This is what stood out to me most at Passion 2021. Out of all of the incredible messages and worship songs, Sean’s quick comment between songs really struck a chord for me.

The day of Passion 2021 I posted about the feelings of fear that were creeping into my mind as the new year approached (see previous post — linked here). Hearing Sean say this made me feel like I was not alone in feeling this way throughout the year, but it also made me realize that it cannot continue.

In that moment, I decided on my word for the year. Instead of setting me year’s resolutions that I would not meet, I have decided to set a word that will be my intention and direction for the year.

My word for 2021 is FEARLESS.

I know that there is no reason to fear when in Christ because God is already in 2021, 2022, and beyond. He has a plan. He is our hope, firm foundation, and way maker. Therefore, I no longer want to let the enemy speak fear over my life. Not this year, not ever.

“Fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

“For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’” Isaiah 41:13
